Cenote Kankirixché




This semi open type cenote with freefall has a wooden staircase and platform to access the water mirror. The water color is blue and it is 25 meters long by 15 meters wide, with a maximum depth of 50 meters and a minimum of 2 meters. 50 meters deep, it features a cave with spacious underwater galleries and good visibility. It is currently used for tourism, with optimal conditions for swimming, snorkelling and observing. It is recommended to use lifejackets, avoid using sunblocks and to be careful when descending the stairs.

This cenote is located 57.4 km south of Merida city, reaching the town of Abalá, head 7km towards the Mucuyché de Peón hacienda and 2 km before arrival turn left and advance 1.4 km on good condition dirt road.
